Reconstructing Buddhism in Modern ChinaDaijō Tokiwa, Shina Bukkyō shiseki tōsaki (Tokyo: Ryuginsha, 1942[1938]).
This project, supported by an
Early Career Fellowship from the Leverhulme Trust, will examine how the reconstruction of Buddhist sacred spaces in modern China helped initiate a transformation of religious culture and the development of a modern religiosity.
