find duplicate files AllDup enables you to find duplicate files across one or more folders or drives. You can choose to match files by size, name, date, attributes and byte-by-byte content comparison. You can also configure a variety of settings to exclude certain file types or folders from the search. AllDup will then scan the selected folders and produce a list of all duplicate files that were found. The list is organized into groups, which makes it easy to manage the results and process the files. You can manually select the files that you consider to be duplicates, or you can use the smart select options that allows you to automatically select files based on their date or folder location. The duplicate files can be processed in several different ways, you can choose to delete them, move or copy them to a different folder, or rename them in their current location. Other features include export of search results, custom search profiles, built-in file preview, support for ID3 tags, and more.

Does everything i need

I've tried a few find duplicate programs over the years. I've never really found one I liked much. Typically, they are too simple or too difficultawkward to use, even for experienced users. Not to mention that it's always scary to let a new and unknown piece of software identify and delete important data.AllDup is not perfect - the interface is too crowded and a bit confusing at first. Way too many buttons. But I really needed a good duplicate finder and decided to spend a few minutes to figure everything out. Once I got the hang of it, it's a very powerful and useful tool. I've identified and cleaned up many gigabytes of duplicate files. Is it the best duplicate finder out there? I have no idea, but it works and does everything I need it to do.

It didn't find all my duplicates. I can sympathize with someone trying to write software like this as it must be pretty elaborate and somewhat trying to test, still, I wish that it caught all my duplicates.

Minor bugs

This is an update to my original review.In that review I gave this program only 2 start because it was not doing things it should which could have caused a problem. After testing several other programs to do this job for me I have to admit even with the bugs, this program is still better than all of the others I tested. The issues about not giving a warning when deleting all files from the same group (noted in my original post) resolved it self the next day, not sure why but hey after the date changed that issue was gone. I am going to raise my score on this program to 3 stars because there are still some odd issues such as when a lot of files are in the list of dupes sometimes clicking on the group with the preview on does not show the images of the items in the group. Moving down the list to the first file in the group and making that image show then going back up to the group main list will cause all files to appear in the preview.All that said, I will send in my findings of things that need corrected and if these things happen I would consider the paid version and bumping up the rating to 4 stars. I won't give it 5 stars unless the interface gets less cumbersome, it is a little odd to use.
