第四十四章 知足不辱
名与身孰亲？
身与货孰多？
得与亡孰病？
甚爱必大费，多藏必厚亡。
故知足不辱，知止不殆，可以长久。

我们必须知道：人生对于“名与身”、“身与货”“得与亡”的选择，绝非是青菜萝卜各有所爱的问题，而是一个极其严肃、涉及生死的重大问题！人若能重生命而轻名利，做到“知足”与“知止”，这就是老子所谓的“深根固祗，长生久视之道”了。
本章的第二段共二十三个字，分为三个层面来阐述：
第四层次，只有能够被承载的，才对我们有价值；
第五层次，知足与知止是生命大成功的关键点；
第六层次，修真之人应当在一个“舍”字上下功夫。
第四层面，只有能够被承载的，才对我们有价值。
首先，每个人都只能过与自己的德相匹配的生活。
现实中，有很多人控制不住自己的贪心，总想去占有；为了得到名利财富、美色享乐，甚至不惜践踏自己的尊严、泯灭自己的人性……可因此而得到的那些外物，与失去的人格和道德相比，真的值得吗？老子说：“甚爱必大费，多藏必厚亡”——这就是贪婪执着的下场。

If you love very much, you will spend a lot, and if you hide too much, you will die.
Therefore being contented with one's lost,know stopping can live for a long time;
We must know that life's choice of 'fame and body', 'body and goods' and 'gain and death' is by no means a matter of love for green vegetables and turnips, but an extremely serious issue involving life and death! If people can value life and despise fame and wealth, and achieve 'contentment' and 'know stopping', this is what Lao Tzu called ' deep and Solid roots and a road to long life'.
The second paragraph of this chapter consists of 23 words, which is divided into three levels:
The fourth level, only what can be carried, can be valuable to us;
At the fifth level, contentment and know stopping are the key points of great success in life;
At the sixth level, people who cultivate truth should work hard on the word 'no begrudge'.
The Fourth, only what can be carried is valuable to us.
First of all, everyone can only live a life that matches his morality.
In reality, many people can't control their greed and always want to possess; In order to get fame, wealth, beauty and pleasure, they even trample on their dignity and lose their humanity... But are the foreign things they get really worth compared with the lost personality and morality? Lao Tzu said, 'if you love a lot, you will pay a lot, and if you hide more, you will die' -- this is the end of greed and obsession.
