什么是 make water，它有什么含义，制造水？做水，烧水？实际上都不是，这次的短语就没那么抽象了，甚至有点生动形象呢。
make water
make water本来有船只进水，漏水的意思，但是如果在日常中听到别人说这个短语的时候，可能想表达的是他想小便，小解，上厕所。同时make water 也相当于pass water 即排尿的意思，是生活中人们委婉表达自己的上厕所需求。

water under the bridge覆水难收
用来指过去的事件或情况，不再被认为是重要的或令人担忧的，就像是泼出之水和无法挽回的过去，因此water under the bridge过去的事了；无法挽回的过去。
water under the bridge 同water over the dam（北美）含义一样，都表示结束了；过去了。这个词，表达桥下逝去的水，是对任何完成的和不可逆转的事物的隐喻，就像曾经流过溢洪道或桥下的水一去不复返一样。
Please do not worry about it any more. It is all water under the bridge.
请不要再担心这件事了，都过去了。
Don’t keep on so, It’s water over the dam.

bread upon the waters真心行善不求回报
Cast one’s bread upon the waters 将面包撒在水里。该习语源出《圣经》——将你的粮食撒在水里,因为日久必能找得着。因此这个短语用来表示甘尽义务；只做好事不求报酬；不期望报答所作之事。
I suspect this man. He doesn’t seem to be a person who would cast his bread upon the waters.
我对此人表示怀疑，看样子他不像是个真心行善的人。
He is so kind and generous that he always casts his bread upon the waters.
