少掉一个the？意思大不同！

定冠词the在英语中的用法可不少，有些短语或者表达加上the和不加上the完全是两个意思，下面就跟着C姐一起看看相关的表达吧~

#01.in red & in the red

in red和in the red在意思上完全不同，in+颜色表示的是穿的衣服是什么颜色，如in black就是穿黑衣，in pink就是穿粉衣，那么in red意思就是穿红衣。in the red的意思是陷入赤字。

The girl in red is my girlfriend.

那个身穿红衣服的姑娘是我的女朋友。

The theatre is $500,000 in the red.

剧院负债50万美元。

#02. by hand&by the hand

hand在英语中表示手的意思，但by hand的意思是手工，by the hand的意思就是拉着手。

#03. by sea & by the sea

in person的意思是本人，in the person的意思是代表。

#05. in front of & in the front of

前者表示“在……外部的前面”，后者表示“在……内部的前面”。

#06. in hospital&in the hospital

in hospital的意思是在医院，in the hospital的意思是住院。
