“母公司”千万别说 mother company！说错老外笑一年！

- “母公司”不要说 mother company -

如果你问老外：Where is your mother company？对方可能会回答你他妈妈的公司。

Mother company 意思是“母亲的公司”。

母公司 = parent company ✔️

PS. “子公司”也不是son company ， 而是 subsidiary company.

- “母校”不是 mother school  -

祖国是 mother land， 那母校是mother school?？？

当然不是噢！

母校= Alma master ✔️

Alma master 可能大家很少见，它是一个拉丁词， 意思是“生育养育的母亲”，在现代多用来形容“母校”和“校歌”。

- I still have strong affection for my alma master.

- 我还是深深的爱着我的母校。

另外， “母校”还可以说成 one’s old school .

“母语”= mother tongue = native language
