■On July 16, Mainspring, a mobile internet enterprise with its headquarters in Jakarta, Indonesia, recently made an official announcement that it received B round financing from Kinzon Capital under Fosun Group. This round of financing focused on input in the R&D and promoting of Mainspring’s mobile internet products and the development of emerging markets.
Besides Kinzon Capital, it is known that angel investor Fritz Demopoulos, Singapore’s Vickers Fund and Gobi Southeast Asia Fund are also investors of Mainspring.
The Southeast Asian market which Mainspring focuses on, especially the Indonesian market, is one of the fastest-growing emerging markets for global mobile internet.
When talking about his initial intention in setting up his business, Liu Weihan, the founder and CEO of Mainspring, said that the Indonesian market was appealing because he felt that the phase of internet development in Indonesia was similar to that of China ten years ago with abundant opportunities. There are plenty of business models in China for reference and plenty of resources available.
When commenting on Mainspring, Wang Jun, Managing Director of Fosun Kinzon Capital mentioned that Mainspring was the first overseas TMT investment project for Fosun Kinzon Capital. Its CEO possesses many years of experience in the US, China and Southeast Asian markets. The company not only has technical background and first-hand experience in planning and management of mobile products, it also has the business acumen and extensive network of venture capitalists. This company is very likely to become the most influential mobile internet service platform in the Southeast Asian region. With the application of reader alone, Mainspring has the potential of becoming the “Headlines Today” of the entire Southeast Asia.
