朋友们好，我们度过了一个漫长的假期，这个假期注定有感动，有欢乐，同时也有泪水和疲劳。
那么在假期最后阶段，除了睡觉，发呆，我们还干些什么呢？

前三讲分别是：谐音记忆法，图像记忆法，词源记忆法。
今天要讲的熟词生义内容，如果单从考试的角度讲，我个人认为它要远远重要于前三讲。
请注意括号内为熟义！
I spent the whole day walking about the tourist attractions．我一整天就在景区到处逛来逛去。
①事故(n.) I saw an accident when I walked in the street.
②意外、偶然的事(n.) (accidentally[æksə'dɛntli)
①出现 (vi) The sun appeared on the horizen[hə'raɪzn].太阳出现在地平线上。
②好象,似乎(vi) He appears (to be) quite rich 他似乎相当富有。
在 it appears 后可接 that 从句或 as if 从句。如：
It appears that he forgot to sign the letter. 他似乎忘记在信上署名了。
It appears as if he’s lost interest in his job. 看来他对自己的工作已失去兴趣。
①申请（for）(vi)I decided to apply for the job.
②运用、应用（to）(vt.)
申申老师 applies this teaching method to his class.
Lay down your arms or I'll fire！放下武器，否则，我们就开枪了！
Police said the man was armed with guns 警察说该男子携有枪。
①地区(n.) Do you like the area where you are living?
②面积(n.)The amusement park covers an area of 3000 square meters.
I should be addressed as“Mr Wong．”应称wo为“王先生”。
②直接向……说 ③向……发表演说
I turned to address the man on my left．我转身过去，向我左边的那人讲话。
I am going to address the meeting in a minute．我一会儿就要在大会上讲话了。
I was admitted into the key university.
The theatre can admit 3000 persons．这个剧场能容纳三千人。
The picture looks good against the white wall．这幅画在洁白的墙的衬托下显得很好看。
注意辨析：agree with /agree on /agree to
Your story agrees with what I heard．你讲的与我所听到的一致。
The seafood doesn't agree with me．我不适合吃海鲜。
Don't air your troubles too often．不要经常发牢骚。
If you go out，who'll attend to the baby？如果你走了，谁来照看婴儿？

59．learn v．听到，获悉 （熟义：学习）
I learned of that yesterday．我昨天才得知此事。
