Hey guys, this week I wanted to talk to you guys about animals. When I say animals, I don’t really mean real animals, what I actually mean is animal names that are used to call certain people.
Hello,Echo的小伙伴们，这周我想跟你们谈一谈“动物”。当我提到“动物”这个词的时候，我指的不是真正的动物，而是用动物来指代人称。
Some of these meanings have negative purpose like if you were to call someone a pig or a rat, but I don’t want to talk about those. Today I want to give you 4 words like those that I just said, but more useful and socially accepted. Let’s get started!
有些“动物代称”并不是很友好，就好比你将一个人称为猪或者老鼠，但是我今天想说的不是这些。今天我想介绍四个关于动物指代人称的地道表达，一起开始学习吧！
1) Scapegoat 替罪羊
The meaning behind this word is very simple and originates from the bible where the Jewish people would use a goat to cleanse for their sins. A scapegoatis a person singled out or chosen to take the blame for others or someone on whom negative treatment is inflicted.
这个表达背后有一个源于圣经的小故事，传说中犹太教徒会用山羊来净化他们的罪孽，替罪羊就是指被挑出来为其他人承担责任的人。
Example:
Even though the boss was to blame, he decided to make Paul the scapegoat and fired him.
尽管该受责备的是老板，他依然决定让Paul来顶罪并且解雇了他。
2) Black sheep 害群之马；败家子
Black sheepis used to describe someone who has a bad reputation or who is not very popular among his peers or family because of his negative attitudes and behaviors.
Black sheep是用来形容因态度消极、品行不正而名声败坏，在同龄人或家族中不受欢迎的人。
Example:
Among the four sisters, Marjorie was the black sheepof the family. She quit school, left home and was always unpleasant with everyone
在四姊妹中，Marjorie是家族中最不受欢迎的人。她不仅逃学、离家出走，还经常弄得每个人都不愉快。
3)Fishy可疑的
Fishyis a word I like to use even now. It is more informal than formal, but can still be found inside the English dictionary. The meaning behind this word is when you feel like someone or something was of questionable character or suspicion.
Fishy是我现在都喜欢用的一个词，即使这个词非常不正式，我们仍能在英语字典里找到它。这个词的意思就是你认为某人或者某事有点可疑，觉得不对劲。
Example:
Did you see how fishy that guy looked? He kept walking in and out of the canteen looking at what we were doing…weird.
你有看到那个可疑的人吗？他不停地进出食堂，看我们在做什么……好奇怪啊！
4) The G.O.A.T
This word might be the only word that is not so negative or morbid. This word also might be more familiar to the guys than the girls because of the many basketball fans in China. The word G.O.A.Tis an acronym that actually spells out “greatest of all time.” Many people would like to to call Kobe Bryant the G.O.A.T.
这是唯一一个没那么消极或病态的词。在中国，因为很多男生们是篮球迷，所以男他们会比女生们更加熟悉这个词。The G.O.A.T这个词其实是“史上最佳”的缩写。很多人会将科比布莱恩特称为The G.O.A.T
Example:
I believe that there are only a a few people that can be called a G.O.A.T.Michael Jordan in basketball, Michael Jackson in music, and Bruce Lee in kung Fu.
我认为只有极少数人才能被称为“史上最佳”：篮球界的麦克乔丹、音乐界的迈克尔杰克逊以及武术界的李小龙。
