英语基本发音规则包括：连读、省略和变音。

连读：前词结尾与后词开头连到一起。

省略：前词结尾的辅音只留出发音时间，而不发出声音。

变音：前词结尾辅音变为另外一个辅音。

发音规则的作用：以最小代价去除发音中的难点，使语言自然、平滑、流畅，甚至是悦耳动听！

陆空通话中也必须遵守这些规则。我们以前讲过ILS与KLM的连读规则。事实上，英语发音规则无处不在：

You are likely to encounter reduced visibility on roll out due to fog coming in from the south.

You are likely to encounter reduce(d) visibility on roll ou(t) due to fo(g) coming in from the south.

另外，变音经常是可选项，不同人是否变音、变音程度会有所不同。上面的reduce，说话者没有变音，而有的飞行员、管制员会明显发成[ri'd?jus]、due发成[d?ju]。
