4Not long ago, many people believed that babies only wanted food and to be kept warm and dry. Some people thought babies were not able to learn things until they were five or six months old.Yet doctors in the United States say babies begin learning on their first day of life. The Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development is a federal government agency. Its goal is to identify which experiences can influence healthy development in human beings.Research scientists at the institute note that babies are strongly influenced by their environment. They say a baby will smile if her mother does something the baby likes. A baby learns to get the best care possible by smiling to please her mother or other caregiver. This is how babies learn to connect and communicate with other human beings

9Imagine life as a game in which you are juggling five balls in the air. You name them: work, family, health, friends, and spirit, and you're keeping all of them in the air. You will soon understand that work is a rubber ball. If you drop it, it will bounce back. But the other four balls--family, health, friends, and spirit are made of glass. If you drop one of these, they will be irrevocably scuffed, marked, nicked, damaged, or even shattered. They will never be the same. You must understand that and strive for balance in your life.

How? Don't undermine your worth by comparing yourself with others. It is because we are different that each of us is special. Don't set your goals by what other people deem important. Only you know what is best for you. Don't take for granted the things closest to your heart. Cling to them as you would your life, for without them, life is meaningless. Don't le t life slip through your fingers by living in the past or for the future. By living your life one day at a time you live ALL the days of your life. Don't give up when you still have

something to give. Nothing is really over until the moment you stop trying. Don't be afraid to admit that you are less than perfect. It is this fragile thread that binds us together. Don't be afraid to encounter risks. It is by taking chances that we learn to be brave. Don't shut love out of your life by saying it's impossible to find. The quickest way to receive love is to give; the fastest way to lose love is to hold it too tightly; and the best way to keep love is to give it wings. Don't run thruogh life so fast that you forget not only where you've been, but also where you are going. Don't forget that a person's greatest emotional need is to feel appreciated. Don't use time or words carelessly. Neither can be retrieved. Life is not a race, but a journey to be savored each step of the way. 10There are four elements of sucession. The first one is fire, to conquer the feeling in your mind that makes you relax, and keep holding on and burst out like fire, you can also view this as gripping on the chances that went by as soon as they appear. The second one is earth, this might be the most important one because it will make you suceed, or fail, if you don't do this, it needs endurance. To study everyday and review your notes meant that you are doing this second element. The third element is water, to gather information drop by drop, knowledge bit by bit, which also meant that you need to have a source of information. And talking about the last element, wood, you have to put the knowledge into use, to grow and develop as fast and as steady as possible. All of the elements mentioned above are elements of sucession, this will guide you through all the pains and sorrows in life, and make you suceed. From Joozone.Com.
But having those elements above would only guide you through mainly the beginning part, if you really want to suceed, you will need to stand back up when you fall, raise your head after you got beatened, and never collapse under any amount of stress. For example, if a person dislikes you and always teases you on your weakest spot, don't avoid him or stubbornly yell at him, it will only make the matter worse. The best way to deal with this is to fight back not using your weakest subject, but your stronge or strongest subject. Keep the words I mentioned in your mind, and you will be a master in everything you tried
13成功和失败

Everyone tries to achieve success in his/her career. But some finally attain their aims while others fail. Why? Some continue their cause to the end through long period of hard struggles, but others are easily disappointed and stop halfway.

Strong will, perseverance and diligence are the three essentials of success. A man of strong will and perseverance always has an inflexible spirit. He sticks to his cause no matter how tough it might be. Life is short and we have too much to do. Without diligence no one can achieve anything.

I believe that where there is a will there is a way, and that success belongs to those who can make constant efforts.
Don't be afraid of life. Believe that life is worth living, and your belief will help create the fact.

21   Chinese Virtue

   中国人在听到赞美之词时,往往是否定对方的赞美
 之词,贬低自己一番,以示自谦。西方人在这种情况下往
 往因他们的话被直言否决而感到中国人不讲礼貌。

I have always found the Chinese to be a very gracious people. In particular, Chinese frequently compliment foreign friends on their language skills, knowledge of Chinese culture, professional accomplishments, and personal health. Curiously, however, Chinese are as loathe to accept a compliment as they are eager to give one. As many of my Chinese friends have explained, this is a manifestation of the Chinese virtue of modesty.
I have noticed a difference, though, in the degree to which modesty is emphasized in the United States and China. In the U.S., we tend to place more emphasis on "seeking the truth from facts;" thus, Americans tend to accept a compliment with gratitude. Chinese, on the other hand, tend to reject the compliment, even when they know they deserve the credit or recognition which has been awarded them. I can imagine a Chinese basketball fan meeting Michael Jordan of the Chicago Bulls. He might say, "Mr. Jordan, I am so happy to meet you. I just want to tell you, you are the best basketball player in the world; you're the greatest!" to which Jordan would probably respond, "Thank you so much, I really appreciate it! I just do try to do my best every time I step on the court." If an American met Deng Yaping, China's premier ping pong player, he might say much the same thing: "…Ms. Deng, you're the best!" but as a Chinese, Deng would probably say, "No, I really don't play all that well, you're much too kind."
Plainly, Americans and Chinese have different ways of responding to praise. Ironically, many Americans might consider Ms. Deng's hypothetical response the less modest, because it is less truthful - and therefore less sincere. Americans generally place sincerity above etiquette; genuine gratitude for the praise serves as a substitute for protestations of modesty. After all, in the words of one of my closest Chinese friends, modesty taken to the extreme is arrogance.
22            When it comes to honesty, quite a lot of people believe it is essential to a person’s character and success. They base their idea on the following reasons: on one hand, successful business owes much to mutual trust; on another hand, great people in history such as Abraham Lincoln and Genete Washington set us good examples of being honest, they are great because they are honest.
But some people think differently. They believe honesty is becoming out of date. Their reasons run as following: to begin with, cheating on exams is becoming more and more popular; in addition, some singers and movie stars cheat on taxes; last but not the least, if you are not careful enough, you’ll buy some defective goods and fake products.
It is high time we emphasized and encouraged honesty. We can take effective measures to restore it. For example, kids should be taught to tell truth, strict rules and regulations should be carried out to stop cheatings on exams and taxes, etc.
26  As they say 'practice makes perfect' but practice means nothing if Humans, like all animals, form cooperative groups to compete for limited resources. All life is ultimately competitive, because the natural tendency of any population is to explode, although it is kept in check by the limited food supply (and other factors). Because there are more animals than food, animals must compete to survive. In situations where the food supply is somehow sufficient, deadly competition falls. Liberals therefore advocate the creation of a sustainable economy, where the population is kept constant (through birth control) and resources are used no faster than they can be replaced. The result will be a more cooperative and civil society.

29Argument

In the debate over what type of society is best, conservatives generally favor more competitive societies, whereas liberals favor more cooperative ones. Let's attempt to see which side is correct, by reviewing the fundamentals of competition and cooperation:
you don't know how to draw realistically. So first of all, you need to look up tutorials with tips on how to improve your drawing technique.

Here are some sites I found really helpful when improving my drawing skills (sorry, most of them are for facial features but that was what I was interested in at the time. If you want to learn to draw something else then just google 'drawing .... tutorials):
Once you know what you're doing, you can start to build up a bank of skills and techniques, which you do by practicing regularly. Buy a good quality sketchpad and artists pencils and draw something new each day (or every few days if you want to take your time over each drawing) and after a few months look back at the beginning of the book and see how you've improved. If there are areas you still need to work on then identify them and look up some tutorials to get you back on track.

28Thomas Moore said, "We are all poets and artists as we live our daily lives, whether or not we recognize our role and whether or not we believe it." Human beings have an innate need to create. Even you! There is a continuum of creativity, ranging from being slightly creative to highly creative. The good news is that you can learn to be more creative by observing creative people and modeling yourself after them. Artists, writers, and creative types seem to have similar characteristics. Some of the personality traits listed below may seem eccentric, odd, even "out there"---but that is where creativity lies--- in the outreaches of our consciousness, in the depths of our souls. If you had the opportunity to speak to Picasso, Walt Disney, or Jane Austen, you would probably find out that they are ordinary people, much like you and I. The difference is that they have allowed more of their soul to come out and play and have freed themselves of convention and restriction. Creativity is essentially the art of discovery and an act of faith. When you create something--- a work of art, book, software program, dance routine, or role for a play, you discover parts of yourself that you never knew existed. Creative people have a strong need to express more of who you really are and often have to fight for that right. The character Isabelle in the movie, Fire and Ice, has a great outlook on what it means to be creative, she says, "To create, sometimes you must rebel."
