room是“房间”
但在口语中，
leave room往往不是“离开房间”的意思!
这就有可能是你对leave和room的认识还不够
leave除了“离开”，还可以表示“留下”
room除了“房间”还表示“空间”
所以
leave room for sth
就相当于为某事或某物留有空间、机会
类似于room for manoeuvre这个词组
