P9. Along time ago there no houses and people lived in caves.
很久以前，没有房子，人们住在洞穴里。
P10. Stanley lived in a cave, but he did notlike it.

P11. The cave was cold. So Stanley was cold.
洞穴很冷，所以斯坦利也很冷。
P12. His head hurt because he had to sleepwith it on a rock.

P13. Bats flew around as though they owned theplace.

P23. Stanley did not answer. He went onplanting seeds and painting pictures.

“Lovely day today, isn’t it?”

“You can’t live here,” theysaid. “Beat it!”

P29. He looked for a place to live.
“You can’t live in a nest,”said the birds.

P31. “You can’t live in the ground,” said the worm.

P32. “Maybe I can live in a tree,” saidStantley.

P33. “Not while I’m up here, “ said an ape.

P34. “Maybe I can live in space,” saidStanley. He jumped off a rock.

P35. “Ouch!” said Stanley. “I can’t live inspace!”

P36. Stanleysaw a field.
“Does anybody mind if Ilive here?” he asked.

P37. “I don’t mind if you don’t snore,” saidan animal who was going to sleep.

P38. “I don’t mind if you don’t eat too muchgrass.” said an animal who was eating.
“只要你不吃太多的草，我就不介意。”正在吃草的动物说。
P39. “I don’t mind if you don’t take up toomuch room.” said a very, very big animal.
“只要你不占用太多的空间，我就不介意。”一个很大很大的动物说。
P40. Stanley made himeself at home. “This isnot bad,” he said.
斯坦利像在家里一样。“这里还不太糟”他说。
P41. But suddenly the wind blew and Stanleywas cold.
The rain fell and he waswet.
但是，忽然风吹过来，斯坦利觉得很冷。
下雨了，他浑身湿透。
P42. “This is worse than the cave,” saidStantley.
He made walls to keep outthe wind.
“这里比洞穴还糟糕。”斯坦利说。

P43. He made a roof to keep out the rain.

P44. He made a door, windows and chimney.
He made a house!

P45. “That’s the first house I ever saw,” saida field mouse.

P49. He planted seeds in the ground andwatched them grow.

P51. The cavemen were out hunting for animals.They carried their clubs.

P52. “Look who’s after us with their sillyclubs,” said the animals. “Let’schase them out of here!”

P53. They chased the cavemen. Stanley saw thecavemen running.
他们追赶洞穴人。斯坦利看到洞穴人在跑。
P54. “Don’t be afraid,” he said. “I won’t letthem hurt you.”

P55. He made the animals go away.
他让动物们离开。
P56. “You saved us, Stanley,” said thecavemen. “Thank you.”

P57. “Come back and live in our cave,” saidone caveman.

P58. “Cave are old-fashioned,” said Stanley.“Come and see where I live.”

P59. He showed them his house.

P60. “A cave is for bears. A house is forpeople,” said Stanley.

P61. “Yor are right, Stanley,” said thecavemen. “This is the way we want to live.”

P62. They all made houses.
