by和to|in和of|at和of：忽略他们的区别，别怪雅思考官给你低分

在雅思英语图表作文写作中，考生必须清楚地掌握以下三组英语介词的区别：

1. by 和 to
2. in 和 of
3. at 和 of

by 和 to

by 和 to的区别在于，by表示变化了多少，强调变化量，而to表示变化到多少，强调变化的结果。

1. The rate of unemployment rose to 12% in 2010.
2. The rate of unemployment rose by 5% in 2010.

例如，如果失业率（rate of unemployment）一开始是2%的话，在上面的句1中，2010的失业率是12%，此时to表示上升到12%，强调结果。而在句2中，则2010的失业率为7%（2% +5%），此时by表示上升了多少，强调增量。

in 和 of

第二组容易出错的介词时in和of。例如：There was a rise in the rate of unemployment。此时介词in表示“在...方面”。因此上面的句子可以翻译文：失业率有所上升。

但容易混淆的是，我们也可以在rise后面添加of引出增量。例如：There was a rise of 5% in the rate of unemployment.

at 和 of

如何表达“达到最大值1000”呢？此时，我们可以使用单词peak。peak既是动词，也是名词。当作为动词时，我们这样使用：It peaked at 1000. 此时使用介词at。当作为名词时，我们这样使用：It reached a peak of 1000. 此时使用介词of。
