IP Shifter is a smart software tool that helps you to change your TCP/IP related settings conveniently and quickly. If you work dynamically at several locations in the network (due to business), you need to be connected in different offices, or you need to use your computer in more than one network, in these cases, you have to changed your IP parameters (e.g. IP addresses, Subnet masks, Gateways, DNS, Proxy) frequently, so IP Shifter is a product for you! It can help you to finish this activity.
All you need is just to configure once any of your possible locations throughout the user-friendly interface, then IP Shifter saves your configuration, next time, you don't need to input parameters manually, you only need to select your desired configuration by the name and click the "Apply" button, then IP Shifter will do for you the rest of changes in a moment!
(1). Switch your IP parameters (e.g. IP addresses, Subnet masks, Gateways, DNS, Proxy) easily. A. it can handle several network adapters! That means that each configuration could be defined for the specific a adapter and you can choose any of the currently enabled adapters. B. you do not need to reboot your PC every time after applying of the selected configuration. Your new configuration will be active in the system instantly.
(2). In IP Shifter, you can ping the specified host, test its connectivity, and view your current IP parameters, so you don't need to enter the command line window using the command-"ping" & "ipconfig" as before.
IP Shifter is a very small software. It is compatible with Windows 2000, XP, Vista, 7 and 8. Currently, it does not support Windows 95 and 98.
Administrator privilege is not required, but changing network settings need higher privilege, by different OS, conditon is different:
(1) For Windows 2000, user must have administrator privilege.
(2) For Windows XP, either administrator, or common user which belong to "Network Configuration Operators" group.
(3) For Windows Vista / 7, if "User Account Control"(UAC) is on, user must be administrator. If UAC is off, either administrator, or common user which belong to "Network Configuration Operators" group.
There are several possible cause:
A. Please make sure you have enough user privilege, about privilege, refer to above.
B. Your cable is disconnected or just connected, but not become effective.
C. The IP address you set conflict with others in the LAN, you will see the prompt dialog if this happened.
D. System service - "Remote Registry Service" stopped. Default, the service is started automatically. If you stop it manually for some reason, You should start it again, IP Shifter need it to finish its activities.
(1) First, make sure you have installed the latest IPShifter, because this function uses Internet geography information, its update is frequent.
(2) Make sure your browser - Internet Explorer can access internet, IPShifter will use IE setting to get info from Internet.
(3) If you use proxy to access internet, make sure the proxy has no username and password. Currently, IPShifter does not support proxy authentication.
