Whenthe SKYWAY car travels at speed of up to 15m/sec. achieving smooth air flow along the side of the cab and a narrow wake, is critical. In the earliest stages of this project, actual models were designed, build and then tested in the wind tunnel facilities of United Technologies Research Center. Today a newly developed computer simulation technique based on Computational Fluid Dynamicsis used to study the air flow. Enabling the evaluation and optimization of shroud design for the top and bottom of the car in the fraction of the time and costs without sacrificing any accuracy. In fact, the quality of this model which runs on a work station, has been proven on a NASA Super computer.


MITSUBISHI:

From the above, the outer shape of the air rectification cover was optimized and also counter measures against noise sources in the vicinity of the car were implemented,resulting in the super-streamlined profile

shown in left fig. By covering the equipment at the top of the car with an air rectification covershaped so as tominimize protruding parts, and by combining the new active roller guide cover with the upper air rectification cover,the ideal streamlined shape around the car was obtained.This is the main feature of this structure. The

optimized air rectification coveris about 1.4 times longer than the conventional structure, thus significantly reducing pressurefluctuations around the car.




TOSHIBA:

Toshiba Elevator and Buildings Systems Corporation has installed two elevators with speed of 1010m/min (60.6km/h) for TAIPEI 101. These elevators are officially approved by the Guinness World Records as the fastest elevator in the world. The development of the world's fastest elevator has pushes the limits of technology. Toshiba took the challenges and introducing solutions of the fastest ride to the passengers without neglecting the safety and riding comfort.



HITACHI

Vast fluctuations in air flow areproduced within shafts operating ultra high-speed elevators. This generates extremely loud wind noise within the elevator cars, which subjects the passengers to increased stress.
Hitachi therefore developed an aerodynamic capsule structure to reduce wind noise, and elevators cars with bi-layered structures to insulate them from background noise.
Elevator cars traveling as ultra high speed that are as quiet at forest landscapes. This is the level of silence Hitachi aims to develop.
