FIRST JOGGING ALONG HENDERSON CREEK
Yesterday's journey to Unitec Waitakere Campus took me a whole morning but, on my way back, I seemed to find a walk way along Henderson Creek, which might be able to lead me to Unitec Waitakere Campus as well. So this morning I decided to have a try and set off at about 8:40.
Auckland's winter daytime is quite short, lasting from about 8am till 6pm. When I walked by Quite Street and easily stepped on the walk and cycleways along Henderson Creek, I was astonished by the sight. The creek flows slowly, the water yellow and murky; the dew shines like glass on the grass, though the sky is foggy; the birds sing cheerfully, mild ducks swimming freely on the creek.
All seems so wonderful. And I could not help singing to the tune of the birds, one of which listened attentively and seemed so strange with such a foreign 'bird twitter'. To my curiosity, I found several beautifully sculptured totems along the creek.
Today I was not lonely, meeting a mother accompanying her two children to school and an old couple walking a dog like my Lucky. I imagined walking Lucky on the magnificant lawns along the creek.
Life is quite different here. I love it.
