9 Maxim                                                  座右铭

If you can’t change your surroundings, youcan change yourself.    你改变不了环境，但是可以改变自己。

If you can’t change the fact, you canchange your attitude.        你改变不了事实，但是可以改变态度。

If you can’t change the past, you canchange the present.          你改变不了过去， 但是可以改变现在。

Although you can’t control the others, youcan master yourself.      你不能控制他人，但可以掌握自己。

Although you can’t change the weather, youcan change your mood.  你不能左右天气， 但可以改变心情。

Although you can’t foretell tomorrow, youcan grasp today.          你不能预知明天， 但可以把握今天。

You can’t succeed everything, but you cantry your best.              你不能样样顺利， 但可以事事尽心。

You can’t choose your appearance, but youcan present your smiling face. 你不能选择容貌， 但可以展现笑容。

All in all, your state of mind is moreimportant than anything else.       一般地说， 心态有时比什么都重要。

 

10. Stopping By Woods On A SnowyEvening     雪夜林边驻足

Whose woods these are I think I know,           树林属谁我清楚，

Hishouse is in the village though,               他家就在那村住；

He will not see me stopping here               哪能见我停此处，

11. Trees                                      树

I think that I shall never see                  我想我将永远不会看见

A poem lovely as a tree,                     像一棵树那样美好的诗篇；

 

A tree whose hungry mouth is pressed          树的饥饿的嘴唇紧紧贴住

Against the earth’s sweet flowing breast,        大地的流淌不尽的甜乳；

 

A tree that looks at God all day,                树整天望着上帝，不分昏晓，

And lifts her leafy arms to pray;               举起她枝叶茂盛的手臂祈祷；

 

A tree that may in summer wear                  这棵树每当夏天来到

A nest of robinsin her hair;                   让知更鸟在她头发里筑巢；

 

Upon whose bossom snow has lain,             白雪积在她的胸前，

Who intimately lives with rain.                雨水和她亲密地同住。

 

Poems are made by fools like me,              诗是像我这样的愚人所做，

But only God can make a tree.                但只有上帝才能创造一棵树。
