Sarah Palin praises Hillary Clinton's "boldness"

NEW ORLEANS, LA - MAY 29: Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin speaks during the 2014 Republican Leadership Conference on May 29, 2014 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Some of the biggest names in the Republican Party are scheduled to speak at the 2014 Republican Leadership Conference, which hosts 1,500 delegates from across the country through May 31. Sarah Palin on Monday lauded the "boldness" of Hillary Clinton's decision to disclose in her new memoir "Hard Choices" a "passé" and "mighty hypocritical" campaign tactic then-candidate Barack Obama's advisers tried to advance during the 2008 presidential election.

In an email to the Hollywood Reporter, the former Alaska governor said she "so far" hasn't read the book. She has, though, seen a passage her lawyer sent her, in which Clinton claims the Obama campaign urged her to go after Palin after she was tapped to be Sen. John McCain's running mate on the Republican ticket.

"Hillary wrote about the 2008 campaign when the Obama camp asked her to basically engage in their familiar 'politics of personal destruction' just hours after I was announced as the GOP's first female VP candidate," Palin said. "They couldn't attack my record as an executive, a Mayor, a Governor, an energy resources commissioner, nor a wife and mother, so ratcheting it all down she surmised the attacks would be based on gender!"

Clinton in her book writes that she "was not going to attack Palin just for being a woman appealing for support from other women. I didn't think it made political sense, and it just didn't feel right."

"Hillary refused to engage," Palin raved. "I appreciated her boldness in explaining that behind-the-scenes campaign tactic of Obama's."

She went on to make the case that political maneuvers like that - not Republicans, as some Democrats have charged - are waging the so-called "war on women": "I've since pointed out there's no 'war on women' if one doesn't react to that immature shot across the bow from the Liberal Left like America saw during that entire campaign," Palin wrote.

"Don't retreat from such a shot. Just reload like I've been blessed to have the opportunity to do," she added in her signature rhetoric. "And hey, I'm still standing! So flipping proud to be an American where I know first hand that anything is possible if you work hard, put your life in God's hands, serve something greater than self, and live life vibrantly!"

Since her brief stint as VP nominee, Palin has spent her post-gubernatorial career waxing polemic on Fox News, starring in backdoor adventure-inspired reality shows and offering her two cents on potential 2016 presidential candidates - all while seemingly entertaining a White House run herself.

But to the heartbreak of anyone holding out for a 2016 head-to-head between Palin and Clinton, the early Democratic frontrunner, it seems the conservative firebrand's hands might be a little too full to keep up the Donald Trump-esque charade. On top of her current undertaking - "Amazing America with Sarah Palin," which the Sportsman Channel on Monday announced would be renewed for a second season - she's apparently also open to hosting a political talk show, a la "The View."

"It'd be so much fun to shake it up taking on issues that make audiences objectively consider all sides, and I'd do it with my own real-life groundedness, candor and commonsense that I'm known for," she told the Hollywood Reporter. "Media needs that today, versus the condescension that oozes from TV and radio. I hear everyone recently got canned from 'The View,' maybe a show like that needs a punch of reality and a voice of reason from America's heartland to knock some humble sense into their scripts."
