Starting your own business could be a way to achieving financial independence. ______, it could just put you in debt.

命题人所提供的答案为D: On the other hand。
我们看到常见的解析是：
答案为D。

A换句话说；B总得说来；C结果是；D另一方面。
句义：
自己做生意也许是获得经济独立的一个很好的方法，另一方面，它也可能让你负债。
根据句义说明这是一件事情的两个方面，所以D项符合上下文串联。
但这种说法并没有说出来题干中的a way to achieving…的搭配的合理与否。
题干中的way显然必须翻译为“方式、方法”对应汉语的语义，才可以贯通整个句子：
现在假定题目成立，那么全句可以翻译为：
创办你自己的公司（企业）可能是一种达成财务独立的方式（方法）；另一方面，它（创办你自己的公司（企业）可能只会使你负债。
毛病在于题干中的 a way to achieving …我们什么时候学习过表达“方式、方法”的way具有a way to doing sth这个用法？
我们知道way是可以与to doing sth连用的，但其含义通常是短语on the/one’s way to doing sth，而其含义通常是“即将到来、即将发生、接近、有进展”的语义，如：

按照《葛传槼英语惯用法词典》第653页way(s)词条1所讲，表达“方法、方式”的way后面通常只接to do sth或of doing sth。
way（方法）后面接不定式或of和动名词都可以。例如：
That is the best way to do it.和That’s the best way of doing it.
第655页way词条7.
下面两句里都有介词to + 动名词，把becoming改作become和把mastering改作master也可以，但不普通：
He is on his way to becoming a journalist.
She is well on the way to mastering English.
这两句里的to改作towards也可以，但不及用to普通。
是否可以理解为2014年高考英语，江西卷——第25题题干产生命题失误？
