清乾隆年间（1736-1795）纸底彩绘本。一幅，图纵40.5厘米，横440厘米，卷轴装。
台湾，古称夷洲。清康熙二十三年（1684）设置台湾府，隶属福建省。故《台湾地图》又称《福建台湾地理全图》。
图中的"诸罗县"为康熙设台湾府时所置，至乾隆五十二年（1787）改名嘉义县。据此可以判断，本图绘制年代当在乾隆五十二年之前。为中国现存最早的手绘台湾地图之一。
《台湾地图》遵循陆在上海在下的绘画原则，故地图方位为上东下西、左北右南。该图所绘范围北起台湾岛北端的鸡笼（即基隆）山和鸡笼城（今基隆市），南至台湾岛南端的沙马矶头山、红头屿和小琉球山（今高雄之南琉球屿），东抵阿里山等山川，西达澎湖列岛。图绘内容重点表示了台湾岛西部之山川、平原的地理面貌，水系和居民地，包括府、县和台湾岛西部最早兴起的港口城镇以及山区少数民族居住的番社等。还标注了水汛、营讯名称。在台湾岛南北两端还有鸡笼山和沙马矶头形势、得名和来往行船指南的简要文字说明。山地采用重彩形象绘画，充分展现了台湾宝岛的名山雄姿。图中画出的无数条大小河流，自东向西流向大海。海水加绘大波浪花纹，自然流畅，气势非常宏伟壮观。澎湖诸岛都标注了名称，十分详尽，地理位置也比较准确。此外，图中还形象地表示了西部沿海诸炮台等兵要内容，使地图兼有军事用途。此图是研究二百多年前台湾地理的珍贵史料。 MAP OF TAIWAN (Tai Wan Di Tu)

This map was produced during the Qinglong period (1736--1795) but no later than 1787. On the handscroll , the island is drawn on the upper portion of map and the water is shown below ,it means that the angle of view is from the Chinese mainland ,or to be exact, is from Fujian province across the strait. The map begins with the southernmost point of Taiwan and terminates whit the northern end ,covering a distance of approximately 400km. The broad coastal plain which features largely in the map has always supported most of the island population; the location of various counties, harbors, cities towns settlements, and minority mountain communities are indicated In this richly colored map, the insular nature of Taiwan is emphasized through the exquisite rendering of gigantic waves, and the distinctions between cartography and art are decidedly blurred. This map is one of the earliest surviving hand-painted maps of the island. (苏品红) |
