So many people have made the common mistake of becoming fixated, dependent and bias towards particular spiritual teachers that had appeared in the world; who are merely just “fingers” pointing (indicating) to universal and timeless spiritual truths throughout the ages. We had gone so far as pledging our allegiances to these distinct human personalities (fingers); putting them on such an “elevated” pedestal, even sensationalizing them to the point of celebrity status.  History has shown us that we had created organized religions, cults, creeds, dogmas and spiritual groups in their names and disciplines (keeping us stuck on the level of form); instead of focusing on the universal spiritual messages they had taught.

Spiritual wisdom indicates that it is not the messengers, but the messages they had shared, that are most important.  Messengers are only the fingers pointing towards the truth (moon); they are not the truth nor should be made to be more special, superior, or holier than us. Mindfully, remove your unnecessary attention from a particular finger (choosing one over another); and put your focus on the spiritual truths in themselves, that can be found only through direct personal experience. -Anon I mus
