“that”这样用爽歪歪~
That love can conquer everything is not necessarily true.
= It is not necessarily true (that) love can conquer everything.
爱可以征服任何事情不是必然正确的。
※ 用虚主词 it 取代时, that 可省略。
1.President Obama promised (that) he will create millions of jobs in the next four years.
欧巴马总统答应在接下来的四年内,他会创造出百万个工作职
2.He is afraid (that) his application for the job will be turned down.
他害怕他的工作申请会被拒绝。
※ turn down 除了拒绝之外,还有关小、调低的意思
reporting verbs 是什么呢?它的定义是动词用来「表达被引述或改述的谈话」
如:say、tell、believe、reply、respond、ask …,that 可以摆在很多常见的 reporting verbs 后面,但是又可区分成可省略 that 的 reporting verbs 和不可省略 that 的 reporting verbs,先来看看可省略 that 的例子
1.James said (that) he was feeling better.
James 说他觉得好一点了。
2.I thought (that) you were in Ireland.
我还以为你在爱尔兰。
再来看看不可省略 that 的例子:
1.James replied that he was feeling better.
James 回复说他已经好点了。
2.She shouted that she was busy.
她大声地吼说她很忙。
3.The labor union insisted that the government should take immediate action to save the insurance program.
劳工联盟坚持政府马上采取动作,以保护保险计划。
在某些形容词后面,我们可以省略 that
1.I’m glad (that) you’re all right.
我很高兴你没事。
2.We were surprised (that) she came.
对她的到来我们感到很惊讶。
若 that 接在名词的后面,我们通常不会省略
1.I did not believe his claim that he was ill.
我不相信他说他生病了。
2.The thought that my parents will always support me encourages me to live out my dream.
想到我的父母会一直支持我,就能鼓励我去实践我的梦想。
※live out: 住在外面;活过(某一段时间);实践
1.We all know (that) he is crazy about you and that he wants to marry you.我們都知道他對妳著迷而且想要跟妳結婚。
If you find a path with no obstacles, it probably doesn’t lead anywhere.
