Friendship lasts longer when people keep appropriate distance between each other, neither too remote nor too close, so that they do not feel distant nor disrespectful. Dharma friends, especially Vajra disciples of the same root guru, should be mindful of the distance and never overestimate your ability of acceptance and adaptability to changes. Gentlemen seek harmony but not uniformity. We need certain room to accommodate various personalities, manners and views.

朋友交往，彼此间保持一个礼貌的距离，既不至于太远而显得冷淡，也不至于太近而失了必要的恭敬，友谊才更留得长久。一起学佛的道友，尤其金刚兄弟之间，更应注意这一点，不要高估了自己的接纳能力和应变能力。和而不同，是需要一定的空间来装下各自不同的性情、方式、观点的。
