ULAN BATOR, Aug. 27 (Xinhua) -- The 10th Children's Performing Arts Festival of East Asia ended here Monday, with high hopes for building bridges among children in the region, local media reported.
Mongolian Minister for Human Development and Social Welfare S. Erdene said that he hoped the festival could promote cultural and art exchanges and friendship among children in East Asia.
The festival, co-organized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization and the Mongolian National Authority for Children, attracted more than 400 children from Mongolia, China, Japan and South Korea.
At the closing ceremony, young children put on performances representing their own cultures and traditions.
The first such festival was held in Beijing in 2001, and it is the second time Mongolia has hosted the event.
