The United States condemned two suicide attacks in Pakistani cities of Quetta and Peshawar which killed dozens, the White House said on Friday.

"The United States condemns, in the strongest possible terms, the terrorist attacks on a religious procession in Quetta and an Ahmedi worship center in Peshawar," the White House said in a statement. "We offer our sincere condolences to the families of the victims."

The White House said to target innocent civilians when Pakistan is suffering from terrible floods makes these acts "more reprehensible."

The White House vowed to continue to assist and work closely with the Pakistani government in its efforts to rebuild and recover from the flooding.

At least 73 people were killed and over 160 others injured when a suicide bomb blast hit Pakistan's southwest city of Quetta on Friday. Most of the victims in the terrorist attack were Shiite Muslims, a minority sect whose population accounts for about five to six percent of the country's total.

In another incident, at least three people were killed and six others injured on Friday as a suicide bomber attacked a minority worship place in Mardan, some 60 km northwest of Peshawar.
