terror 知道，谈不上熟悉.名词，恐怖，恐怖活动，引起恐怖的人（事），讨厌的人

刚犯了一个错误，我以为terror的动词是terrorify ,哪儿冒出来的想法啊！错了噢，正确的是terrify 这个单词，这个单词是vt使害怕，使恐怖，恐吓
terror变动词，名正言顺的该是terrorize吧
terrorize 使…恐惧，恐吓，威胁（意思跟terrify一样，也可以写为terrorise）常见句型如下：
be terrorized into doing sth （这个是一个被动，主动形式terrorize sb into doing sth 想也是可以的）
Many peope have been terrorized into leaving. 很多人都被迫离开了。
roastv 烤，烘焙 n 烤肉 adj烤好的，烤制的 作为动词 还有一个意思，嘲讽 目前我还没见过他的用法，有次听老师讲roast sb 有吐槽某人的意思，我字典上没查到，不知道是不是听错了，有待考证，如果某人恰好知道可以告诉我。
跟吃的关系还是要大点儿，记住常见的几个名称
roast duck 烤鸭 （北京烤鸭 Peking duck )
roast pork 烤猪肉，叉烧（重点当然是看叉烧竟然说roast pork 就可以了，叉烧的另一个说法char siu）
roast meat shop 烤肉店
roast suckling pig 烤乳猪（suckling来自suckle v 给...哺乳， 吮吸，养育，吃奶）
想吃烤肉了！先看看。这是不是羊肉串儿
再来补一个roast 的用法，roast snow in a furnace 意思：做无果的可笑的事情（To attempt a futile, often ridiculous task）
You're so tiny that there's no way you can carry that armchair upstairs all
by yourself—you might as well roast snow in a furnace!
have a familiar ring之前听到过的（if sth has a familiar ring, you feel that you have heard it before)

（if a statement or argument has a ring of truth/confidence etc,it seems as if it has this quality）
His explanation has the ring of truth.他的解释似乎是真的（这个短语我见得少，用着不踏实，下次遇到一定再记录一次）
be finished 完蛋了(口语里面）
You are pretty much finished for the rest of the school year
再稍稍扩展一下，have/be finished with sb/sth
使用结束，不再需要用某物 /结束与某人的谈话（尤其指想惩罚或是生某人气的时候)
Have you finished with the scissors?
Don't go. I haven't finished with you yet.
'when I am finished wiht you', he said,'you'll be lucky if you're still alive.'(隐约感觉到一股杀气啊）
contest 的发音，名词（竞争，争论，争夺）时重音在第一个
/?kɑ?ntest/，动词（争辩，提出质疑，竞争）重音在第二个，且o的发音也变了/k?n?test/.对，英语就是这么讨厌！灵活多变）
blurb /bl??rb/ 简介，推荐广告（a short description giving information about a book,new product etc)
The blurb for her latest book describes her as ‘one of Britain’s best-loved art critics’.
cook sth up (非正式）
编造（借口，原因，计划等）
cook up a story 编造故事
cook the books 造假（to dishonestly change official records and figures in order to steal money or give people false information)
The government was cooking the books and misleading the public.

stress sb out（非正式）让某人担心，紧张
Studying for exams always stresses me out.
give the floor to sb给予某人发言权(这个短语文章中看到过的）
类似的一个用法，have the floor( 通常指重要场合）发言，拥有发言权

顺便查到give a stretch 伸懒腰
clear the fence 越过栅栏（不触碰）
clear your throat清嗓子（恰好今天看到）
in the clear 清白的（not guilty of sth)
stay/keep/steer clear (of sb/sth)clear 在这里是一个副词，这个短语指避开,绕过某人某物以免遇到危险或麻烦

下面这个单词才给力噢，
window 不是窗子，第一次见，还挺好用
window 空当，空隙

顺便查到 out of window 完全消失，不再有效用 欲望都市第一集里面看到过，当时觉得奇怪，现在查到了觉得原来如此。（电视里面是几个女演员讨论爱情相关的东西，其中两个觉得爱情不可靠等等，另一持不同观点的女演员说当对的人出现时，不相信爱情的那两位说的情况都out of window,她们两个不会像说的一样不相信爱情，大概是这样）
fasting n,adj 禁食，禁食的 （看吧，假如还想着快，是快的ing 那么会整个人不好的，意思已经完全跟我们熟悉的fast 快，没什么关系了）
但是fasting 跟fast 还是有关系，因为fast 除常见意思快速的（地）之外，还有 v,n，意为禁食，斋戒，绝食

sth is a bad call 在这里，call 是决定的意思，除了常见用法人家就还是有这样的意思，记住就好。
