late/lately/later deep/deeply

late有adj.和adv.两种，作为adv.时：
1.after the expected, arranged or usual time 迟；晚：I got up late.
2.near the end of a period of time, a person's life, etc.接近末期；在晚年:late in March/the afternoon 三月下旬；傍晚：It happenedlate last century-in1895to be exact.那事发生在上个世纪末——确切的说，发生在1895年。He became an author latein life.他到晚年才成为作家。
3.near the end of the day 临近日暮；接近午夜：There's a good film onlate.深夜有一场好电影。
Late that evening,there was a knock at the door.那天深夜，有人敲过门。

Late and lately are both adverbs, but late is used withsimilar meanings to the adjective late, whereas lately can onlymean ‘recently'.

deep/deeply

The adverbs deep anddeeply can both mean ‘a long way down or into something’. Deep canonly mean this and is more common than deeply in the sense. It isusually followed by a word like into or below. we decided to godeeper into the junglge.我们决定继续深入丛林。

Deeply usually means‘very much’：deeply in love.  deeply shocked. youcan use deep down(but not deeply) to talk about a person's realnature:she can seem stern, but deep down she's a very kindperson.
