Lexicon is almost everything in the artist's studio, it is a dictionary of life, an encyclopedia of creation, an organizer of experiences and mental states - our hearts / our experiments / our inspirations / our successes / our failures / our wishes / our prayers, all gathered here.

The studio is filled with little fine paths of creation, little visual clues, little notes of inspiration, little symbolic signs and vocabulary. The studio is an important tool for the artist and a filter of sorts for the space, they filter out materials and ideas that will not be adopted or will not be chosen. Once in the studio, any object or material is classified as an unknown, waiting to be assigned, mined, explored or plowed and given meaning.

The future is like an unopened ledger of upcoming thoughts and paths.

The studio is always in a 'futuristic state', a space where materials, ideas and emotions are a vocabulary, all of which come together to form the artists' own 'Lexicon'. The futuristic state of the studio promotes the artists' optimism, excitement, anxiety and concern for future possibilities, and it contributes to the expansion of many boundaries. .

The studio's futurism is also reflected in the fact that it is slowly nurtured by time. From a future perspective, history lies in the artist's twisting of materials as far as the eye can see.

Stephen Gleadow's work is based on the massive changes in cities and communities, where buildings, homes and lives are deconstructed, broken into pieces and crushed into dust. Gleadow collects objects from the discarded and transforms them into the material realm of art making, which not only becomes a reference point for him to think about the social function of art, but also gives meaning to the art form.
