一天清晨，河马哈里很早就醒来了。
“哎哟哟哟哟哟！”他发出呻吟。
“I have a horrible, terrible toothache.”
“我的牙实在是太疼了。”
Harry moaned and groaned.
哈里唉声叹气，呻吟不止。
He moaned and groaned so loudly he woke up everyone.
他呻吟声实在是太大了，所有人都醒了过来。
“出什么事啦？”大家问道。
“Why is Harry moaning and groaning so loudly?”
“为什么哈里呻吟的那么大声？”
“Harry has toothache,” said his wife, Harriet.“
哈里牙疼的厉害，”哈里的妻子,哈里特说道。
“我们该怎么做？”鹦鹉波莉问道。
“We will have to pull out the tooth,” said Harriet.
“我们必须把那颗牙拔出来，”哈里特说。
“But who will pull it out?” asked Polly.
“但是谁来拔呢？”波莉又问。
“I will,” said Milly the gorilla.
“让我来吧，”大猩猩米莉举手。
“But how will you pull it out?” asked Ziggy the lion.
“但是你要怎么拔呢？”狮子齐格问道。
米莉找来了一根藤蔓。
She tied the vine to Harry’s tooth, and she pulled on the vine.
她将藤蔓绑在哈里的坏牙上，然后她用力往外拉扯。
She pulled and pulled, but the tooth did not come out.
她又拉又扯，可是牙齿纹丝不动。
“我来帮你，”齐格提议。
So Ziggy and Milly pulled, but the tooth did not come out.
齐格和米莉用力地拉扯，可是牙齿还是没有被拔出来。
“What will we do now?” asked Polly.
“我们现在该怎么办呢？”波莉问道。
“I have an idea,” said Milly.
“我有办法啦，”米莉说。
They took Harry to a cliff and tie the vine to a big rock.
大家把哈里带到悬崖边，将一块大石头绑在了藤蔓另一端。
They pushed the rock over the cliff.
他们把岩石推下悬崖。
But Harry’s tooth did not come out.
但是还是没有将哈里的牙齿拔出来。
“现在可如何是好啊？”齐格问。
“I have a better idea,” said Polly, and she flew off.“
我有一个更好的主意，”波莉说完急忙飞走了。
Harry moaned and groaned even louder.
哈里因为疼痛呻吟地更加大声了。
不一会儿，波莉带着大象艾拉一块回来了。
“Ella will help us pull Harry’s tooth,” said Polly.
“艾拉是来帮我们给哈里拔牙的，”波莉说道。
They tied the vine to Ella.于是他们把藤蔓绑在艾拉鼻子上。
She pulled and pulled, but still the tooth did not come out.
她用力拉呀扯呀，可是牙齿还是拔不出来。
这时，丛林里窜出来一只小老鼠。
Ella saw the mouse and took off running very fast.
艾拉突然瞄见了老鼠，吓得赶紧朝外跑。
这不，哈里的牙齿终于拔下来了。
Harry stopped moaning and groaning.
哈里终于不用唉声叹气。
Once again the jungle was quiet.
丛林又恢复了以往的平静。
Everyone was happy, especially Harry.
每个人都非常开心，当然啦，哈里就更不用说啦。
