be sure of (doing) sth是指句子的主语确信/肯定…，如

——是指“汤姆本人确信赢得比赛”。
be sure to do sth是指说话人确信/肯定…，如
Tom was sure to win the game.
——是指说话者“我”确信“汤姆一定会赢得比赛”。

He is sure of winning. = He is sure that he will win.他自信他会赢。
——表示对主语“他”自己行为的确信，注意与be sure to win的区别。

——表示说话者认为“他会赢”，因而与I am sure (that) he will win. 或It is certain that he will win. 等同义。不过很少说It is sure that he will win.

sure在句中出现的位置一般和certain（形容词）一样，但在It’s certain (that)…句型中sure不能代替certain。
