【导入】What do you know about basketball
1. Students watch a video about basketball.
2. Students talk about what they know about basketball.
活动2【讲授】New words, useful expressions and mind-mapping
1. While the students are talking about what they know about basketball, the teacher draws a mind map about what they talk on the blackboard and introduces some new words.
2.The teacher introduces the mind-map and the reading strategy: mind-mapping.
3. The teacher introduces some more information about basketball using some new words and phrases.
活动3【活动】Reading
1. Skimming: Ss. listen to the passage and match the main idea of each paragraph.
2. Scanning: Ss. scan the passage and complete the mind map in 2c. (Group work)
3. Careful reading: Ss. read the passage carefully and then finish the following group work tasks:1) Find out the useful expressions in each paragraph.2) Complete the retelling passage with the help of the expressions and the mind map in 2c.
活动4【作业】Mind-mapping and Writing
1. Make a mind-map about being a famous basketball player.
2. Write a passage “I (don’t) want to be a famous basketball player.” according to the mind-map.
