人权宣言

组成国民议会之法国人代表认为，无视、遗忘或蔑视人权是公众不幸和政府腐败的唯一原因，所以决定把自然的、不可剥夺的和神圣的人权阐明于庄严的宣言之中，以便本宣言可以经常呈现在社会各个成员之前，使他们不断地想到他们的权利和义务；以便立法权的决议和行政权的决定能随时和整个政治机构的目标两相比较，从而能更加受到他们的尊重；以便公民们今后以简单而无可争辩的原则为根据的那些要求能确保宪法与全体幸福之维护。因此，国民议会在上帝面前并在他的庇护之下确认并宣布下述的人与公民的权利：

The representatives of the French people， organized as a National Assembly， believing that the ignorance， neglect， or contempt of the rights of man are the sole cause of public calamities and of the corruption of governments， have determined to set forth in a solemn declaration the natural， unalienable， and sacred rights of man， in order that this declaration， being constantly before all the members of the Social body， shall remind them continually of their rights and duties； in order that the acts of the legislative power， as well as those of the executive power，may be compared at any moment with the objects and purposes of all political institutions and may thus be more respected， and， lastly， in order that the grievances of the citizens，based hereafter upon simple and incontestable principles， shall tend to the maintenance of the constitution and redound to the happiness of all.Therefore the National Assembly recognizes and proclaims， in the presence and under the auspices of the Supreme Being， the following rights of man and of the citizen：

法国人民的代表,组织国民大会,相信无知,忽视或轻视人的权利的唯一原因是公共灾难和腐败的政府决心在一个庄严的宣言提出了自然的、不可剥夺的,和神圣的权利的人,为了这个宣言,被不断地在所有社会成员的身体之前,应当不断提醒他们他们的权利和义务,以便立法权的行为,以及行政权力的,随时可能比较的对象和目的的政治机构,并可能因此更受人尊敬的,,最后,为了市民的不满,以后基于简单而无可争辩的原则,应倾向于维护宪法和提高所有人的幸福。

因此国民大会承认和宣称，在存在和最高的赞助下，下面的人与公民的权利。
