[ + that ] formal (of a law or decision) to say that something must happen if particular conditions exist
（法律或裁决）规定
Section 17 provides that all decisions must be circulated in writing.第17条规定，所有的决定都必须以书面形式发放通知。
被动形式也很常用，例如'...as provided in Article 30 of the Trademark Law' (属于《商标法》第30条规定的...)

赔偿（金），赔款
The politician was awarded £50,000 in damages over false allegations made by the newspaper.那位政治家获得了报社因报道失实而向他支付的5万英镑赔偿金。
The police have been ordered to pay substantial damages to the families of the two dead boys.警方被责令向两名死亡儿童的家人支付巨额赔偿金。
注意此处必须是复数形式，statutory damages是指法定赔偿。

C1 [ C usually plural, U ] something that brings advantages to or affects someone or something
利益，好处
A union looks after the interests of its members.工会关心其会员的利益。
『权益』一般不翻译为benefits，更常用interest(s)。[ C ] one of the people or groups of people involved in an official argument, arrangement, or similar situation
当事人，参与方
The UN called on all parties in the conflict to take a positive stance towards the new peace initiative.联合国呼吁冲突各方对新的和平倡议采取积极姿态。
It's often difficult to establish who the guilty party is following a traffic accident.发生交通意外后常常很难确定谁是有错的一方。
合同中常见的甲方乙方可翻译成Party A和Party B。any of the people or organizations who may be affected by a situation, or who are hoping to make money out of a situation:
利害关系人，利害关系方
Employees, suppliers, customers, and other interested parties are anxiously awaiting news about the takeover bid.
Details of the contract will be made available for any interested party to look at.
有利益（interest）牵扯的就是利害关系方。
C2 [ C usually plural ] a reason, cause, or argument
原因，根据，理由
She is suing the company on grounds of unfair dismissal.她正以公司不公正解雇她为由对其提起诉讼。
uk Do you have any ground for suspecting them?你有什么根据怀疑他们？
[ + to infinitive ] We have grounds to believe that you have been lying to us.我们有理由相信，你一直在对我们撒谎。
[ + that ] He refused to answer on the grounds that the question violated his rights to privacy.他以个人隐私被侵犯为由拒绝作出答复。
官方的驳回理由经常用ground表示，例如第一部分提到的绝对理由absolute ground。而向官方提交的理由通常都是有论点的，所以多用arguments。

We file these reports (= put them in a file) under country of origin.我们把这些报告按原产国分类归档。
[ T ] specialized law to officially record something, especially in a law court
（尤指在法庭）提起（诉讼）
The police filed charges against the two suspects.警方对两名嫌疑犯提起了诉讼。

归档和提交都是file，动名词形式是filing，常用的提交报告是filing /faɪlɪŋ/ report，这里的注意不要读成filling report 『填充报告』。
B1 expected to happen, arrive, etc. at a particular time
预计的，预期的
What time is the next bus due?下一趟公交车什么时候来？
The next meeting is due to be held in three months' time.下次会议预计将在3个月后召开。
Their first baby is due in January.他们的第一个孩子预产期在一月份。
绝限日除了deadline，也可以用due date。某商标续展绝限可以说renewal due for trademark X。

在（将来）适当的时候，到时候
You will receive notification of the results in due course.到时候你会收到结果通知的。
及早，有充裕时间地
We'll be at the airport in good time.我们会早早赶到机场的。
邮件结尾的时候经常用这两个词组。例如，We look forward to hearing from you in due course. （盼复）或者 We look forward to receiving your further instructions in good time.（期待尽早收到贵方的进一步指示）。
