Internet : keeping people close or distant

In contemporary society.Internet has been widely used in many fields. Every day, an increasingly number of people is involved in the World Wide Web. With the rapid development, a question has begun to draw more and more attention by the public. Is internet keeping people close or distant?
     In my opinion, things are different in different conditions. Internet can be regarded as a communication tool and from this perspective, its widely acceptance shall contribute to keeping people close. For instance, people from different countries and living far away from each other may become good friends through MSN or QQ. Obviously, online chatting does help net- users connect with the world outside, then exchange their ideas, share their sorrow and happiness with other people. It is the Internet that makes such communication possible and convenient. On the other hand, if people indulge themselves in the computer games and cut down the time with parents or friends, it is thus possible that they are becoming further and further to the real world. In this case, we can say that they’re distant from us.
     Using Internet is just like a double-edged sword. So, we must take sensible use of it. We are supposed to get it into our heads that shortening our game times and moderating contact with those e-pals. And there is a more pressing reason,  we should be sincere and polite while chatting. As long as we treat Internet properly and make full use of its positive functions, we’ll benefit from it.
