A Clouds float like works of art;
Stars shoot with grief at heart.
Across the Milky Way the Cowherd meets the Maid.
When autumn's Golden Wind embraces Dew of Jade,
All the love scenes on earth, however many, fade.

This happy date seems but a dream.
Can they bear a separate homeward way?
If love between both sides can last for aye,
Why need they stay together night and day?

As if gentle clouds were flying faster and faster.
Silently the Cowboy-Star crossed the Milky Way,
For releasing his grief on the Double-Seventh-Day.
Like Golden Wind and Jade Dew merged once again,
No meeting was happier than the couple’s reunion.
The couple’s tenderness was like water being warm;
Their nuptial ceremony was like a wonderful dream.
Weaving-Girl and Cowboy were reluctant to be apart,
The two heavenly stars sense their love would ever last
though being separated from each other day and night.

The Qixi Festival (七夕节), also known as the Qiqiao Festival (乞巧节), is a Chinese festival that celebrates the annual meeting of the cowherd and weaver girl in Chinese mythology. It falls on the seventh day of the 7th month on the Chinese calendar. It is sometimes called the Double Seventh Festival, the Chinese Valentine's Day, the Night of Sevens, or the Magpie Festival.
The festival originated from the romantic legend of two lovers, Zhinü and Niulang, who were the weaver maid and the cowherd, respectively. The tale of The Weaver Girl and the Cowherd has been celebrated in the Qixi Festival since the Han Dynasty. The earliest-known reference to this famous myth dates back to over 2600 years ago, which was told in a poem from the Classic of Poetry. The Qixi festival inspired Tanabata festival in Japan and Chilseok festival in Korea.
