我国古代将人的情绪分为喜（Happiness）、怒（Anger）、哀（Sadness）、乐（Pleasure）、爱（Love）、恶（Evil）、惧（Fear）七种基本形式。
现代心理学一般把情绪分为快乐（Happiness）、愤怒（Anger）、悲哀（Sadness）、恐惧（Fear）四种基本形式。这四种基本形式又可以简单粗暴地分为心情好和心情不好。
表示自己心情好的词语：
快乐（happy）；开心（joyful）；兴奋（excited）；
兴高采烈（Be jubilant）；欢天喜地（Be full of joy）；心花怒放（Be wild with joy）；
满心欢喜（Filled with joy）；喜出望外（Be overjoyed）；心旷神怡（be free of mind and happy of heart）；
痛快淋漓（impassioned and forceful）；忘怀大笑（laugh heartily）；
表示自己心情不好的词语：
悲伤（Sadness）；害怕（Dread）；惊慌（Alarmed）；
担忧（Worry）；伤感（Soppy）；火冒三丈（Fly into a rage）；
怒气冲天（One's wrath filled the sky）；闷闷不乐（Be depressed in spirits）；心事重重（Be preoccupied by some troubles）；
心如刀绞（Be torn with grief）；悲痛欲绝（Wring one's heart to the very core）；心惊胆战（be panic-stricken）；
心慌意乱（Lose presence of mind）；心急如焚（One's heart is torn with anxiety）；忐忑不安（Be very upset）；
灰心丧气（Get disheartened）；焦躁不安（Restless）；百感交集（Have mixed feelings）；
悲愤填膺（Be filled with grief and indignation）；痛不欲生（Hardly wished to live）；痛心疾首（With deep hatred and resentment）；
1、一个女司机在他超车时不停地闪着车前灯，这让他火冒三丈。He lost his temper after a driver flashed her headlights as he overtook .
2、这种批评她差不多可以置之不理，但他却不能不感到痛心疾首。Criticism which she can just about shrug off but which he takes painfully to heart.
3、旅行给予我们一种高尚有益的快乐。Travel gives us a worthy and improving pleasure.
4、他很快乐，经常心花怒放。He was happy, full of expansive joy.
5、我心如刀绞，无言以对。My heart is aching, and I can tell them nothing.
6、大家可以看出，他的内心闷闷不乐。Everybody could see black resentment filled his heart.
7、你对发生的一切好象并没有感到不安。You don't seem to be very upset about what happened.
8、我害怕她，但同时也确实喜欢她。I was afraid of her, but at the same time I really liked he
9、你习惯性地认为害怕是软弱的表现。You have been conditioned to believe that it is weak to be scared
10、在我灰心丧气的时候，你会给我一个拥抱吗？Will you give me a hug when I'm discouraged?
11、她看起来心事重重。She looked very preoccupied.
12、她喜欢伤感的爱情故事、老电影以及诸如此类的东西。She loves soppy love stories, old films, that sort of thing.
13、我百感交集，心中充满沮丧、失落和空虚感。I felt a mix of emotions such as depression, loss, and emptiness.
14、每当我看见其他男孩撇下我去追随他，我就变得心急如焚，怒不可遏。I became worried and angry when I saw the other boys follow him instead of me.
15、在每天的生活里，尽情的欢笑，深深的关爱，忘掉其他的琐事。In every day life, try to laugh heartily; love deeply and let the rest roll off ( your shoulder).
