■Born in Berlin, Germany on December 8, 1922, he is the grandson of Sigmund Freud, a famous psychologist. He moved to London in 1933 to escape the persecution of the Nazis and his family. Later, he studied at the Central Academy of art and Goldsmiths College, became friends with Francis Bacon, and interacted with a group of image artists working in London in the late 1940s.

Lucian Freud is one of the major figurative painters in the 20th century. He painted in an uncompromising confrontational style, and his portraits and nudes were painted with heavy brushes. He often paints himself, his family and friends. His works are full of unique psychological space. Painting under intense direct observation, usually in the process of sitting many times, Freud observed his practice: "the longer you look at an object, the more abstract it becomes and, ironically, the more real it becomes."
