after, in和later与时间连用的时的用法区别

（两周以后回来，选哪一个？）

In, after和later这三个词都有“在……以后”的意思。他们的区别主要在于：

1、after是介词，后面接具体的时间点，注意不能接时间段。

（1）after September九月份以后

（2）after nine months九个月以后（错误，这是时间段）

（3）after 3 o’clock三点钟以后

（4）after 3 hours三小时以后（错误，这是时间段）

（5）After the war many soldiers stayed in France. 战后，许多士兵留在法国。

（6）They arrived shortly after 7. 他们是在7点钟刚过到达的。

2、later是副词，放在时间段的后面，它不与时间点连用，它用来叙述过去的事情。

（1）two years later两年以后

（2）later two years 两年以后（错误）

（3）3 o’clock later三点钟以后（错误，3点钟是时间点）

3、in表示“在……以后”时，它是介词，后面只能接时间段，并且只能表示将来的时间，所以常用一般将来时间。

（1）He will come back in two weeks. 他将在两个星期以后回来。（将来的事）

（2）He came back two weeks later.他在两个星期以后就回来了。（过去的事）

【注】若对该in短语提问，常用how soon，如第（1）句的提问是：

How soon will he come back?他多快就会回来？

4、after后面可以接名词、动名词来指明时间。、

After winning the prize, she became famous overnight. 她获奖后一夜之间成名了。

5、after可以作连词，后面接一个句子。

After you’d called the police, what did you do? 报警之后，你做了些什么？

6、after后面虽然不能接时间段，但在after sth的前面却可以用时间段，即：时间段+after sth:

Ten years after he bought the painting, Carswell discovered that it was a fake. 卡斯韦尔买下那幅画十年后发现它是赝品。

回到前面的插图，两周以后回来，两周是一段时间，且是一般将来时态，所以选in。
