What about Theater arts?
戏剧IA是什么样的？
OK, so for theater arts, the one big difference similar to music and all the other courses is that you have that extra project, that you do in theater HL. And it’s also a solo performance. Solo performance would be you act, and interpretation of a theory.
对于戏剧IA，和音乐一样与其他的IB课程不同的一点是HL学生的IA比SL学生要多一项project。与音乐IA相似，戏剧IA也是个人表演。学生需要完成戏剧个人表演和理论知识理解。
Just like there are famous writers who make creative works for art, for literature, theater, for music.
像一些知名作者会创造一些独具特色的艺术、文学、戏剧、音乐作品。
There are theorists who are also writers, but they actually write like a theoretical explanation on how theater should be performed.
但也有像理论家这样的作者，他们所写的则是从理论的角度阐明该如何表现戏剧中的内容。
So, for example, relate that to music, so somebody like Bach is a composer.
举个和音乐有关的例子，像巴赫这样一个人是位作曲家。
But imagine Bach is a philosopher, and he came up with an idea of how music should be. And he kinda did that with counterpoint. He developed counterpoint in music.Writing a lot of lines happening at the same time.
但想象一下，巴赫是个哲学家，他通过运用复调，想明白了音乐是什么。复调即为不同旋律同时结合构成的多声部音乐。
So for theater, it would be somebody who has a theory about how theater should be performed.
所以，对于戏剧而言，学生要具备的是如何表现戏剧的理论。
So they might say: oh, my idea is not like Shakespeare’s. I think theater should involve the audience. Everybody should be interacted.
比如学生们可以说：我的想法和莎士比亚的不同。我觉得戏剧的表现应该包含观众的参与。每个人都应相互交流。
So you will study like some famous guy who had came up with that idea, about how theater should be. And you research that person, and then you use their theory, their idea, to create your own solo performance.
那么这里学生要学习的是一些名人戏剧理论，关于戏剧具体内容的知识。同时，学生需要对名人作一些研究调查。随后，运用他们的理论和概念来完成并演绎属于自己的个人表演。
So you have to write the script yourself?
学生需要自己写剧本？
Yes. But the script won’t be submitted. All we are submitting for that is a video of you. And then you write an explanation. You write a short essay explaining how you used this theory and why you chose it.
是的。但是剧本不需要作为IA的一部分提交。IA要提交的内容只有你的一个视频。另外，你需要写说明。你需要写一篇小论文阐述你是如何运用这个戏剧理论以及选择这个理论的原因。
Is there a time limit, for…?
那么个人表演是否有时间限制？
Yeah. I think it’s 10 minutes.
有的。应该是10分钟。
So what about SL student?
那么SL学生的IA是否也要完成个人表演？
SL students don’t have to do that project. And for music, you don’t have to do the composition. So the other stuff—there’s other stuff.There’s a project where you direct your own play.
SL的同学不需要完成这个project。和音乐一样，SL不需要完成作曲。那么除此之外：另一个project就是你自己导演你的戏剧。
And there is also another project where you research, a theater style that we don’t study in class. Year 2 is very independent on the student. Students do a lot of research.
还有一个你要做研究的project是关于我们课上没学过的一个戏剧风格。到了IB2，学生需要自主探究，做大量的研究。
They work on their own projects, so teacher, like, you know, choose style a bit less, let students focus.
学生致力于他们自己的projects，所以老师不会给太多的限制，而是让学生自己专注于他们的project。
So for example, in year 2, in theater, you guys will, like I was just saying, research a theater style from some part of the world. Let’s say Japanese theater, kabuki theater. We don’t study that in class. Your group might do a half-hour presentation on their theater style.
例如，在IB2，戏剧生们需要研究世界上一种特定的戏剧风格。例如日本的戏剧—歌舞伎。我们在课上并不做学习。那么你的研究小组就要对此风格进行研究并完成一个半小时的演讲。
The other one is you direct your own play. So SL and HL do that. The only difference is HL has one more project to do—that’s the solo performance.
这是其中一个project，另一个就是你自己导演一个戏剧。SL和HL都需要完成这两项project。唯一的区别就是HL需要多完成个人表演的project。
