Materiel 和munitions都指装备而不是武器。materiel指所有支持性设备和战斗必须的物资供应，而munitions最经常只指弹药：dry socks are as important an item of materiel as munitions.
Arsenal和deterrent最近常用于指一个国家的核武器。arsenal过去仅指一个储存武器的地方，但是在这个特别的例子中，它指一堆核弹头。deterrent几乎是nuclear arsenal的一种委婉的说法：the atomic arsenal of either nation alone could lay waste to the entire planet,yet many countries clamor to build their own deterrents as well.
