Dear Diary,
This weekend Madeleine and I visited Nanjing to go to a meeting with many of the other foreign teachers from the United States. On Saturday night we all met at one of our friends home and had a big American homemade dinner! It was nice eating food from home and having some food that I've missed since I've been in China. I really do like Chinese food, but I also miss the food from my home sometimes. After dinner we all talked about the experiences that we have had thus far in China. It was really interesting hearing all about the experiences the other teachers who are spread all across China have had. We all shared one thing however, a love for our students and the people of China. All of us teachers have had different trials to face since we've been here. You learn a lot about yourself when you're in a completely different culture and when you're far away from all of your friends and family. However, I think that sometimes when we are faced with difficult situations is when we learn the most. Most things in life that are worth while aren't easy, but they shape and refine us into better people. I think no matter where you go in this world there will always be hard things that you will need to face but there will also always be good things. I've learned that no matter where I go in this world I can make a friend. Anyways those are my thoughts for today! Until next time~
