Make sure your machine supports wireless networking. Wireless networkingmay not be available depending on the model (see Features by models). |
Typically, you can only have one connection betweenyour computer and the machine at a time.
Wireless networks require higher security, so whenan access point is first set up, a network name (SSID), thetype of security used, and a Network Password are createdfor the network. Ask your network administrator about thisinformation before proceeding with the machine installation.
You can set wireless settings either from the machine or thecomputer. Choose the setting method from the below table.

You can enable Wi-Fi Direct feature by one of thefollowing methods.
After the driver installation is complete, Samsung Easy Printer Manager can beset and changes in the Wi-Fi Direct can be made.

Samsung Easy Printer Manager isAvailable for Windowsand Mac OS users only. |
From the Start menu, select Programs or AllPrograms > Samsung Printers > Samsung Easy Printer Manager > Device Settings > Network.
Wi-FiDirect On/Off: Select On to enable.
Device Name: Enterthe printer’s name for searching for your printer on awireless network. By default, the device nameis the model name.
IP Address: Enterthe IP address of the printer. This IP address is usedonly for the local network and not for the infrastructure wired orwireless network. We recommend using the default localIP address (the default local IP address of the printerfor Wi-Fi Direct is 192.168.3.1 )
Group Owner: Activatethis option to assign the printer the Wi-Fi Direct group’sowner. The Group Owner actssimilar to a wireless access point. We recommend activatingthis option.
Network Password: Ifyour printer is a Group Owner, a Network Password is required forother mobile devices to connect to your printer. You canconfigure a Network Password yourself, or can rememberthe given Network Password that is randomly generated by default.
After setting up Wi-Fi Directfrom the printer, refer to the user manual of the mobiledevice you are using to set its Wi-Fi Direct.
After setting up Wi-Fi Direct, youneed to download the mobile printing application (For example: SamsungMobile printer) to print from your smartphone.

For a Static network environment
The machine uses the static address when the computer is configured tostatic address.
For example,
If the computer’s network information is as shownbelow:
IP address: 169.254.133.42
Subnet Mask: 255.255.0.0
Then the machine’s network information should beas below:

For information on the access point (or wirelessrouter), refer to its own user's guide. |
You cannot enable wired and wirelessnetworks at the same time.
Your computer, access point (orwireless router), or machine may not be turnedon.
Check the wireless reception around the machine. Ifthe router is far from the machine or there is an obstacle, youmight have difficulty receiving the signal.
Cycle the power for the access point (orwireless router), machine, and computer. Sometimescycling the power can recover network communication.
Check whether firewall software (V3 orNorton) is blocking the communication.
If the computer and the machine are connected on the samenetwork and it cannot be found when searching, firewallsoftware might be blocking the communication. Refer tothe user's guide for the software to turn it off and try searchingfor the machine again.
Check whether the machine's IP address is allocatedcorrectly. You can check the IP address by printing thenetwork configuration report.
Check whether the access point (or wirelessrouter) has a configured security (password). Ifit has a password, refer to the access point (orwireless router) administrator.
Check the machine's IP address. Reinstallthe machine driver and change the settings to connect to the machineon the network. Due to the characteristics of DHCP, theallocated IP address could change if the machine is not used fora long time or if the access point has been reset.
Register the product's MAC address when you confogure theDHCP server on the access point (or wireless router). Thenyou can always use the IP address that is set with the MAC address. Youcan identify the Mac address of your machine by printing a networkconfiguration report (see Printing a network configuration report).
Check the wireless environment. You mightnot be able to connect to the network in the infrastructure environmentwhere you need to type in a user's information before connectingto the access point (or wireless router).
This machine only supports IEEE 802.11b/g/n and Wi-Fi. Other wireless communicationtypes (e.g., Bluetooth) arenot supported.
When using the ad hoc mode, in operatingsystems such as Windows Vista, you might need to set thewireless connection setting every time you use the wireless machine.
You cannot use infrastructure mode and ad hoc modeat the same time for Samsung wireless network machines.
The machine is within the range of the wirelessnetwork.
The machine is located away from obstacles thatcould block the wireless signal.
Remove any large metal objects between the access point (orwireless router) and the machine.
Make sure the machine and wireless access point (orwireless router) are not separated by poles, walls, orsupport columns containing metal or concrete.
The machine is located away from other electronicdevices that may interfere with the wireless signal.
Many devices can interfere with the wireless signal, includinga microwave oven and some Bluetooth devices.
Whenever the configuration of your access point (orwireless router) changes, you must do the product'swireless network setup again.
The maximum number of device that can be connectedvia Wi-Fi Direct is 3.
If Wi-Fi Direct is ON, this machine only supportsIEEE 802.11 b/g.
If the access point is set to work with the 802.11nstandard only, it may not connect to your machine.
