CNN reports Ikea is working on creating a meatless meatball.

The furniture retailer is also well known for some of its food options like its Swedish meatballs.

On Thursday, it said it was working on a new version of the food that 'looks and tastes like meat but is made from plant based alternative proteins.

Ikea wants to eventually sell the plant-based meatball at all of its locations worldwide.

Ikea said it is running tests and developing prototypes with different potential partners but hasn't decided yet which supplier it will work with.

Ikea already sells four varieties of meatballs — classic, veggie, chicken, and fish.
