从200多篇中国工程学生撰写的论文中找到的最普遍的习惯
这篇文章展现了在超过200篇中国作者所写英文论文中观察到的最普遍的中国式英语写作习惯。这些习惯被解释并且在大多数情况下都在优先选择出的文本中给出了实际论文的例子。一种试图去解释这些错误要怎样去纠正并且阻止发生的尝试被做出。
在一些情况下一种对这些习惯性的错误的可能的解释也会给出。这篇论文可以作为个人编辑科技论文时的指导，特别是在没有一个英语母语的本地人在身边的时候。
介绍
大多数中国的大学要求他们科学和技术领域的硕士或博士学位学生至少在国际期刊上发表一篇英文论文。然而，很多因素导致这个任务很难被完成。首先，早先的英语学习可能没有集中在写作上，更不用说写科技论文了。现在的学习可能不包括英语的学习，导致作者的英语流畅程度降低。第二，大多数作者从来没有在英语母语国家生活过。其三，由于科技论文写作的特殊性，即便是英语母语的国家的工程学生在他们学习的课程中也包括科技论文写作课程。
学生的论文不被接受并被退回因为憋足的英语是很常见的。如果可能的话，学生可以让一个英语国家的本地人帮自己编辑论文。然而，这对于一个有很多学生并且每篇论文都典型的需要被第二遍修改来说成本很高。雇佣某个人去编辑论文是困难的，花费很高而且只是把问题上打上补丁。一个母语为英语的人可以在避免大多数语法错误上做得很好。然而，如果这个人没有科技的背景，特别是他要编辑的科技论文的领域，那么他将不能够避免所有的错误，也不能保证把意思清晰地表述出来。他不能辨别出有专业术语的科技方面错误的翻译。这种错误不会被教授的拼写或者语法的检查者挑出来。附加的，如果他们对话题或领域不熟悉的话，他们可能不能抓住整篇文章的意思，并且不能够作出批判的评注。
还有一个更好的方法：雇一个具有你的论文要求的技术背景的人来帮你修改。不过，虽然这个有技术背景的人可以帮你修改论文，但却不能告诉你如何才能在以后的避免类似的错误。另外，对中国的大学来说，雇佣这样的专职来修改论文的一个团队对中国的大学来说也不太现实。大学可以考虑请一个来访学者，让他帮助修改论文并以请他教书或者搞研究作为交换。
虽然，修稿可能是发表论文最快的方法，但是不能够很好的教会作者们怎样去避免那些阻碍读者清晰理解作者的思想的常见错误和口语化的习惯。很好的掌握了英语的作者只有知道他们常犯的错误和口语化的习惯并且知道如何去避免它们才会真正受益。
目的
这篇报告的目的是介绍一些最普遍的中国式英语习惯，它们是从我修改过的200多篇论文中标注出的。这些习惯包括语法错误，口语用法，和版式问题，它们在大多数情况下会阻碍读者清晰地理解作者的观点。一些习惯，比如写很长的句子，当仔细的使用MS Word的语法和风格修正器能够被检查出来。然而，大多数习惯，比如丢掉冠词，不会被自动语法检查装置检查出来并且提醒。仍然，中国式英语的口语习惯不被这些软件工具认可。
结构
这些常见的习惯被分成两个部分展示。第一部分列出了，在我看来，最需要引起注意的事项。这些习惯是最常见的，中断了论文的流畅性并且让其文显得难以理解。在这一部分，对这些习惯进行了解释，并在实际的论文中给出例句以及正确的写法以示如何去修正那些错误的习惯。对于遗漏的冠词，一个流线型的图表也给出用来选择正确的冠词。
在第二部分，给出了一个附加的习惯的表格。在一些情况下，给出了例句。在另一些情况下，给出了建议。第二部分在熟悉一些意思感情方面的色彩的细微差别很有用。
并不是我观察到的所有的习惯都写出来了，主要是因为它们只能被因人而异的处理。例如，作者在对论文命题，或者为他们的新的技术思想命名以言简意赅的表达出他们的概念或作用。这些问题频繁的出现，但是只能因人而异的处理。一旦作者发觉他的写作习惯，就能够写出更好的科技论文。
第一部分
“a,an,the”
一个很普遍的习惯就是遗漏冠词a,an,the. 这种情况会发生是因为国语没有等效的冠词并且使用它们的规则在非本土的英语使用者看来貌似是挺复杂的一件事。
冠词指示了在它们之后会跟一个名词，并且任何在冠词和名词之间的修饰成分都会被认为是用于修饰那个名词（a blue bicycle/the first award）A 和an是不定冠词，the是定冠词。每当有不可数名词单数和可数名词单数时，名词前要使用限定词。
错误：the，a和the
1）在需要的地方被忽略；2）用到不需要的地方或者是文章显得昂长；3）正确的冠词用到了错误的地方。

定义：
冠词
也被称为限定词或名次标记，冠词是a,an,the。A和an是不定冠词，the是定冠词。冠词表示之后会跟一个名词，并且任何在冠词和名词之间的限定词都用于修饰名词。(a cold,metal chair/the lightning-fast computer).
限定成分
一个词或者一个词组，通常以形容词形式出现，用于限定一个名词的数量或多少，等等。（对量的表达，限定性形容词，标注）它们说明一个名词是普通名词(a tree)还是特指名词(the tree)。The是特指冠词。在一个名词前，the表示已经知道的那个具体的东西(theplan)。A和an 是非限定性冠词。它表示这个名词指示一个不特指的或者普通的物品。
普通名词
一个名词命名一个大致的群体，地点，人，或东西：dog、house。
可数名词
一个名词命名可以被数的物品：radio，streets,idea,fingernails.
不可数名词
命名不可数的东西的名词：water,time.
特指名词
表示精确地特别指明的物品的名词，要用定冠词the。
非特指名词
可以指任何一定量的物品的一类名词，要使用不定冠词a，an。
很长的句子
很长的句子在中国式英语写作中尤为常见，因为作者常常直接把中文翻译成英文。虽然在中文写作中可以把几个支持观点的分句插入句中来表现它们的联系，但是在英语中，要特别注意主要观点和每个支持它的观点要分条陈述。
一个人一般可以从句子的长度来识别过长的句子——六十个词或者更多。然而，如果短句包含了很复杂的表述，并且可能混淆了主要观点的话，也会被认为是过长的句子。长句子可以通过限制每个句子仅表述一到两个话题来避免。在作者真的想强调几个观点之间的关系时要用分号。

另一种超长的句子类型频繁的出现在学术论文中的是长串的罗列。作者想给出很大数量的数据，通常是参数值，就会把这些信息放在一个过长、有一段话那么多的句子里。然而，给出这种数据最好的方式是把它们列成表。（把它放到有强调符号的列表里）。

写前言，句子主要观点是先阐述目的、地点、或原因
中国作者在写一句话的主要观点时，通常先阐述目的、地点、原因、例子和条件作为介绍的元素。然而，这样做会有降低主要观点的效果，并且让读者认为作者很含蓄。在一个句子的开头点明主要观点，在此这后阐述地点、原因等等。
错误

先行词（通常是名词或代词）中which的指代不明确，导致误解。
先行词
表示代词所表示之物的名词或代词。

石家庄南路的地下桥有1978年建的最大的jacking工厂。

古生物学中的绝对事实一般是令人困惑的，甚至制片者们也会对激烈的争论中科学家们产生分歧感到惊讶，虽然当初的头脑风暴是另一回事。
Respectively和respective
Repectively表示对两个或更多的人或东西按先前指定的或提到的顺序。如果给出两个列表，respectively搭配的列表是完全按照它们给出的顺序排列。在这种情况下用respectively表示允许作者给出大量信息而不用考虑读者或写一些短句。Respectively经常在句子的末尾使用。在两种情况下，提到顺序时必须对句子的意义很重要，否则就不用。
例如：Bobby,Nicole and Daren worered,green and blue coats,respectively.
Bobby nicole 和 daren 依次穿了绿色，红色和蓝色的外套。

”in this paper” “in this study ”
当用这些词时的两个错误。前一个经常被过度使用。在一些中国人写的论文中，这些词组在每篇文章中要出现两次。在英语母语者写的论文中，这些词组仅保留两种基本的用法。
1、
在说明和结论中强调论文的内容。
2、
在正文中，在引用不是作者工作结果之后，比如杂志上的文章，或者在标准。
所以，如果任意一个词组在一篇论文中出现的次数超过三次，它的用法就很有问题。实际上，读者知道论文中展示的工作结果是作者完成的，所以就没有必要去重复这些词组。
第二种错误更微妙，两种词组是可以替换的。
笨拙的

笨拙的

“study”是指作者所做的工作。论文是体现作者工作的模型，也是读者所要读的。记住，作者也可以用其他的词组比如说“in this research”和“this paper present”等等。
数字和方程
两个很常见的错误就是，考虑到阿拉伯数字的表示形式，和方程。中国作者一般写出阿拉伯数字而不是把数字拼写出来。虽然阿拉伯数字的使用本身并不是错误的，它们不应该被用到句首。

该实验选择了12个参数。

附加的，阿拉伯数字被过度使用了。阿拉伯数字应该被用来在科技论文中给出数据，然而，它们并不应该被用于给出普通的信息。

这个可能是因为国语是符号文字而不是拼音文字在从中作梗。所以，发现用符号文字表达观点比用拼音文字要简单。这个问题甚至会更加严重，当作者在句中使用方程来代替文字，而英语母语国家的人没有这种用法。
方程应该被引入，而不是代替文字，也不能插入到文字的之中。在很多杂志上，比如说international journal of production research，甚至不鼓励在文章中使用短句。

版式
段落
一个段落是一群叙述一个话题或思想的句子。分段是为了表示一个观点或想法的结束和另一个的开始。所有的英语段落都在新的一行起始并在开头空一英尺左右的长度或者在两段文字之间空一行。后者在商业写作中更加典型。
中国学生经常被分段困扰，他们可能出现一到两个错误。一个错误是在发生在作者不能够区分两个段落时。虽然新的段落在新的一行开始了，但是没有切口，所以读者没有意识到段落或者观点的改变。第二种错误的发生时当一句话形成一个段落在一段话之前。这一行表示下一段的开始和后边文章的继续。这个错误经常在中国学生论文中出现而从没在英语母语者的论文中出现过。
“figure”和“table”
‘Figure’和‘Table’的缩写分别是Fig.和 Tbl,然而在论文中，table 的缩写非常少见。一个人也可以写fig.来表示figure。然而，他应该选择一种惯例并在这篇论文中自始至终的使用。你不应该在几种用法中转换，Figure,figure,Fig,or fig.附加的，缩写不应该被用于句首，也不被用于缩写词和数词之间。

变化
变化，尤其是英语字母的变化，在科技论文中应该使用斜体，来与英文词汇分开。当然，这取决于杂志要求的风格。
大写字母
注意大写字母不要出现在句子的中间。
