The beginning of autumn or the start of autumn is the thirteenth solar term among the twenty-four solar term. Even though it is the first solar term of autumn, since the beginning of autumn is often in the middle of zhongfu (the second 10-day period of Sanfu in the Chinese lunar calender, i.e., late July to early August), it does not mean that it will cool down soon. In ancient times, there was also a custom of worshiping the land gods and celebrating a good harvest on this day. It usually falls on the days between 7th of August and 9th of August every year.
立秋，是二十四节气中第十三个节气，也是秋季的第一个节气，为秋季的起点。不过立秋时往往还处在中伏期间，所以并不代表立秋之后就会凉快起来。在古代，立秋这天还会有祭祀土地神、庆祝丰收的习俗。每年8月7日～8月9日交节，便迎来立秋节气。

A cool breeze arrives during the first 5-day period;
The white dew falls during the second 5-day period;
The solitary cicada starts chirping during the third 5-day period.
三候
一候凉风至；
二候白露降；
三候寒蝉鸣。
立秋五日，风中已经有了凉意；
五日后，清晨会有白雾降下；
再过五日，寒蝉感受到了秋阴，开始鸣叫。
