The spine-tingling wail of air-raid sirens has become one of the defining sounds of warfare, a waxing and waning alert to imminent aerial threat. As Chinese, we must be very familiar with the sound of the air-raid sirens. Every year on September 18, we can hear the sound. Even though, it is the peace time now, we shouldn't forget about the ones who have died in wars. It is because of their sacrifice, we can have freedom today. So how does the air-raid siren sound exactly? Please read the following part:
1. Most cities choose to sound the air-raid siren at 09:18 on September 18 every year, and the reasons why some cities choose another day vary. (Shanghai sounds the siren on September 16, Nationwide National Defense Education Day.) The alarm siren is divided into three types: advance alarm, air-raid alarm and alarm dismissal, with an interval of 7 minutes.
2. Advance alarm sounds for 36 seconds, stops for 24 seconds, and repeats three times. Air-raid alarm sounds for 6 seconds, stops for 6 seconds, and repeats 15 times. When the alarm is dismissed, there is a long sound that lasts for 3 minutes.
3. September 18 is considered a "Remembrance Day" by many Chinese people. It is a day not only for remembering the one who have died in the Mukden Incident, but also reminds us to be alert of danger even in times of peace. Since 1995, Shenyang has sounded an air-raid siren for three minutes on the night of September 18 to commemorate this day in history.
1、大部分城市选择在每年的9月18日09:18分拉响九一八防空警报，个别城市因具体原因有所不同。警报一共分为预先警报、空袭警报和解除警报，三者分别间隔7分钟。
2、预先警报，鸣36秒，停24秒，反复三遍。空袭警报，鸣6秒，停6秒，反复15遍。解除警报，音响为一遍长声，3分钟。
3、9月18日对中国人民来说是十分重要的日子，不仅仅是为了悼念在九一八事变中牺牲的同胞，也是为了提醒我们居安思危。沈阳从1995年始，每年在9月18日晚上鸣响防空警报3分钟。
