Remember where we stopped last time? (if not, TOO bad! But it is not too late to have a look now at this link). From Segesta reaching Selinunte would be a 50 minutes car trip through the green hills of Valle del Belice where the olive trees grow. At this point you will see the coast and the temples of Selinunte. It is one of the best known archeological sites in Sicily, proof of the Greek Empire where the white ruins meet the blue sea and sky. Sambuca di Sicilia 西西里桑布卡Sambuca won the "Most Beautiful Italian Hamlet" award in 2016. It is quite an unknown village only 40 km away from Selinunte that traces back to the Arabic domination of Sicily. The Arabs built a castle in that slope and Sambuca still has an Arabic urban pattern visible in the Arabic neighborhood with its "sette vanedde" (seven alleys) which are now a living museum of Sicilian-Arabic history.桑布卡荣获2016年“最美小镇”荣誉称号。距离塞利农特仅40公里，却是一个鲜为人知的小镇，这里可以追溯到阿拉伯人对西西里的统治时期。阿拉伯人在那里修建了一座城堡，桑布卡的阿拉伯居民区中可见其阿拉伯城市风貌，其“sette vanedde”（七个小巷）现已成为西西里阿拉伯历史的鲜活博物馆。

At this point, we suggest you to take a deserved break. After leaving Sambuca you can enjoy 80 km of coastal road that leads you straight to Agrigento, but before arriving there it would be a pity to miss one of the most scenic spots in the whole Sicily: Scala dei Turchi. it literally means "Stairway of the Turks" but (spoiler) it is not a real ladder but a spectacular stretch of coast. Agrigento was founded by the Ancient Greeks and was a florid center throughout the different populations that dominated Sicily afterwards.During the golden age of the Greek civilization (known as Akragas), it was the hometown of philosopher Empedocles, and it is also the birthplace of the novelist Luigi Pirandello who won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1934. Agrigento is primarily famous for the incredible and amazing Valley of Temples.

Since 1997 the Valley of Temples and the other ancient sites in the area have been included in the UNESCO's World Heritage List. Located in the city of Agrigento, the valley is the impressive remains of Greek Doric temples. The most important ones are: Tempio di Era,Tempio della Concordia which is the most intact one and the Tempio di Eracle, the oldest one. If you still have time left and want to visit the first UNESCO World Heritage site in Sicily, then you should not miss the village of Piazza Armerina. It is well known mainly for its Villa del Casale and its mosaics.
