倒装：介词短语 + 被动语态 + 主语

读到一个句子：

Against the wall was a bookshelf made of wood, on whose top were piled packets of

newspapers and magazines up to the ceiling.

靠墙是一个木制的书架，上面堆着一包包的报纸和杂志，一直堆到天花板上。 

  

这个句子中采用了两个倒装结构。

●     Against the wall was a bookshelf made of wood 是“介词短语 + be + 主语”倒

装，正常语序是： a book shelf made of wood was against the wall。

例句：

At the head of the queue was an old lady, followed by her little granddaughter.

排在队伍前头的是一位老太太，后面跟着她的小孙女。

●      on whose top were piled packets of newspapers and magazines up to the ceiling

是“介词短语 + 被动语态 + 主语”倒装，正常语序是：packets of newspapers and

magazines were piled on its top up to the ceiling.

例句：

In front of the house were planted some apples trees.

房子前面种几棵苹果树。

In the far distance was seen the glistering surface of a lake surrounded by trees.

远处可以看见一个波光荡漾的湖面，四周都是树木。
