【英语习语】              paint the town red

          刚见到这个习语 paint the town red, 感到很不解，怎么要把“城市刷成红色”？读了注释才

明白，原来是在年轻人中很流行的一句俚语，意思是“go out and have a really exciting, crazy time”。

Wiktionary 给出的解释是：To party or celebrate in a rowdy wild manner, expecially in a public place.

         所以，这个习语的意思是“到城里去狂玩’，“出去痛快地玩”，尤指晚上到闹区、公共场

所去喝酒、跳舞、唱歌、享受都市夜生活。paint the town red是一种夸张的说法，译成汉语意思

很多，可译成“狂玩”、“发疯去”、“玩个痛快”、“狂欢庆祝”、“饮酒作乐”、“热闹一

番”等等。
